💡 Inspiration

With so many learning platforms that rely on passive methods like videos, quizzes, and memorization, we wanted to create a platform where students could experience professions firsthand through gameplay. The gamified aspects of CareerCraft were inspired by Dungeons & Dragons mechanics.

🎮 What it does

CareerCraft is a multiplayer career simulator that turns skill-building into a game. Users choose a career path and complete interactive missions that simulate real workplace scenarios.

Instead of answering quiz questions, players perform tasks like:

  • Investigating security breaches 🔍
  • Debugging code 💻
  • Planning product launches 📈

Users gain XP, level up skills, collaborate with peers, and receive feedback from industry professionals, making learning both engaging and practical.

🛠️ How we built it

We built CareerCraft as a web platform focused on immersive learning and collaboration.

Key components include:

  • Mission-based learning system 🎯
  • RPG-style skill progression with XP and achievements 🎲
  • Student profiles showcasing skills and accomplishments 👤
  • Mentor dashboards for reviewing student work and giving feedback 👨‍🏫
  • AI-powered skill gap analysis and learning recommendations 🧠

⚡ Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was designing missions that felt like real professional tasks rather than simple quizzes. We also had to balance game mechanics with meaningful educational outcomes, ensuring the platform remained fun while still teaching practical skills.

🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud that CareerCraft transforms learning into a game-like career exploration experience through unique means. We're also proud of building a system that connects students with industry mentors, creating opportunities for learning while networking.

📚 What we learned

Through this project, we learned how powerful how to use new AI tools like Google Antigravity and Figma's AI to build wireframes and a final product as well as how to iterate on our ideas and designs through demographic feedback we gathered through Google Forms.

🔮 What's next for CareerCraft

Next, we want to expand CareerCraft by adding:

  • More career paths and skill missions 🎯
  • Multiplayer team missions that simulate real company projects 🤝
  • A community marketplace where users can submit their own learning tracks 🌍
  • More advanced AI-powered career guidance and skill recommendations 🧠

Our long-term vision is for CareerCraft to become a platform where anyone can explore careers, build real skills, and connect with mentors in meaningful ways.
