✨ Inspiration

Most students feel lost when choosing a career. They either follow what their friends pick, what their parents suggest, or what society pushes. There’s no clear, personalised guidance that tells them what they’re actually good at and what path fits them best. We wanted to create something that acts like a real mentor — available to every student, anytime.

🧭 What it does

Career Compass helps students find the right career path by:

Taking a simple interest + skills assessment

Suggesting suitable careers based on their strengths

Showing required subjects, future scope, salary range, and growth opportunities

Providing a personalised roadmap from school → college → career

Helping students explore courses, colleges, and skill-building resources

Basically, it moves students from confusion to clarity with structured guidance.

🛠 How we built it Career Compass was developed by following the BASE44 Software Development Model, which provided a clear, structured, and student-friendly approach to building the prototype. Here’s how each phase contributed:

  1. B – Brainstorming

We started by identifying the real issues students face during career selection — confusion, lack of guidance, limited resources, and random advice. We collected ideas, researched existing tools, and created a clear vision for a personalised career-guidance platform.

  1. A – Analysis

In this stage, we analysed:

User requirements (students, parents, beginners)

Types of career clusters

Data needed for career mapping

Features required: quizzes, roadmaps, career descriptions, suggestions We defined the scope and functionalities based on this analysis.

  1. S – System Design

We designed the structure of Career Compass:

Wireframes for each page

Flowchart of the recommendation process

Database design for career categories and paths

UI layout that is simple, friendly, and non-overwhelming This helped us plan how users move through the platform.

  1. E – Execution

In this phase, we actually built the prototype:

Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript for clean visuals and smooth interaction

Backend: A lightweight database to store career data

Logic: A simple recommendation system that maps a student’s interests to relevant career clusters

Interactive quiz and career roadmap pages

44 – Testing + Refinement

The final part of BASE44 focuses on improving the prototype. We tested:

Whether the career suggestions matched user inputs

Page navigation and UI clarity

Loading speed and user experience

Based on feedback, we refined the interface, improved the quiz logic, and rearranged the career information so it’s easier to understand.
