Inspiration

We recognize that finding an ideal career pathway can be challenging, especially finding out what are the steps to pursue your goals. Many people may end up in a career that doesn't bring them the most happiness or align with their interest. Many people are unaware of the steps that they can take, learning paths, and options when it comes to pursuing a different career. Our project aims to assist them with their career journey by creating relevant recommendations that align with their interests.

How we built it

For the front end, we incorporated HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create a clean, user-friendly interface. The frontend is designed to be responsive, allowing users to interact with the platform easily on both desktop and mobile devices. For the backend we learned how Databricks can be utilized for data processing across a range of applications. Additionally, we learned to navigate cloud integration with AWS and enhanced our skills in connecting different technologies.

Challenges we ran into

Our main challenges that we ran into was properly setting up the front end with the backend. We invested time into understanding how we can incorporate what we needed with databricks, incorporating AWS S3 cloud storage, and coming up with an idea that would be beneficial to others. The amount of time we had to create our project was another factor as it can be challenging to create a fully functional app with our team size while also participating in events.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As a team of 3 members, we were able to learn a lot together with a variety of different tools and within a short timeframe. We had great teamwork skills and had a lot of fun collaborating on a project together.

What's next for Career Compass AI

We want to enhance the platform to include job matching, where users can see open positions that align with their skills, goals, and learning styles, sourced from job boards and companies' career pages. We also want to create more recommended steps such as pursuing different courses, certifications, books, or activities that could benefit them in their career interests while also aligning with their learning style. We also hope to improve the user interface, keeping it simple and more accessible. This includes optimizing the design for mobile devices, ensuring users can easily interact with the platform on the go.
