Inspiration

Choosing a career path is overwhelming — countless options, skill gaps, and uncertain guidance. We wanted to create a tool that acts like a personal AI career coach, helping users discover, prepare, and grow confidently in their chosen field.

What it does

Career Compass AI analyzes a user’s skills, interests, and goals to generate personalized learning paths, AI-curated job recommendations, real-time resume feedback, and interactive interview practice powered by AI. It empowers users to track progress, identify opportunities, and stay motivated throughout their career journey.

How we built it

We built the web app using: Frontend: React + Tailwind CSS Backend: Node.js + Express AI & ML: OpenAI API for language understanding and skill analysis Hosting: Vercel Design: Figma for UI/UX prototyping

Challenges we ran into

Balancing accurate AI suggestions with user privacy and personalization. Integrating multiple APIs smoothly within the limited hackathon timeframe. Designing an intuitive interface for users of all backgrounds.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built a fully functional AI career assistant prototype within just a few days. Successfully integrated OpenAI API to generate personalized learning paths and resume feedback. Designed a clean, responsive UI/UX using Figma and implemented it seamlessly with React and Tailwind CSS. Delivered a working AI interview coach that simulates real-time interview questions and feedback. Collaborated effectively as a team — balancing design, development, and AI logic despite tight deadlines. Received positive user feedback for clarity, ease of use, and the relevance of recommendations.

What we learned

We learned how to combine AI-driven personalization with practical career guidance workflows. We also deepened our understanding of prompt engineering, user-centric design, and agile teamwork.

What's next for Career Compass AI

Expanding the interview coach with speech recognition and feedback analysis. Adding gamified learning milestones. Launching a mobile app version to reach more users.
