Inspiration
The Humans of HR (THOHR) was founded in 2020 as a science-oriented collaborative blog within the open education movement. The premise was simple: let real practitioners find the HR & talent science and lead the conversation, making knowledge on work and careers openly accessible to anyone, anywhere. No ads. No paywalls. Volunteer contributors. The content spread organically to 173 countries in six years with no paid acquisition, and the blog eventually became a knowledge-sharing platform on the world of work.
Career Bar (pre-beta) grew out of THOHR's monetization strategy. The blog’s original career coaching services went through a service-to-product transformation designed to scale science-backed talent management strategies to individuals who have never had access to them. A private workspace for career development: freemium model, AI-powered and human-led, professional-grade tools, accessible pricing, no institutional gate. The educational media content feeds directly into it through the learning suite.
The integrated platforms rest on the conviction that corporate-grade career development should not depend on institutional affiliation. The best talent deserves the best guidance, regardless of who they’re connected to or where they start.
Career Bar is pre-beta, and is getting ready for its first users. Today, the onboarding phase for clients was developed (basic version).
What it does
✓ Personalized dashboard from day one ✓ Coaches arrive informed — no cold-start ✓ Skippable: no hard gate for users ✓ Repeat-proof: redirects on return visit ✓ Stored in Supabase with user-only RLS ✓ Zero Lovable credits spent
How we built it
1) Codex. Codex read the live GitHub repo, understood the existing Supabase auth and routing, then wrote:
• Onboarding page • Route wiring • Auth redirect • Database migration
2) Github. Each file change arrived as a permission prompt. Nothing merged automatically. Four files were reviewed, approved individually, and committed to a clean branch ahead of main with zero conflicts.
3) Lovable. Merging the PR to main triggers Lovable to pull the changes automatically. No Lovable credits consumed. The feature ships through GitHub instead of the Lovable editor.
Challenges we ran into
Not having enough credits, learning to use new platforms, working between different solutions.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Career Bar finally has an onboarding phase!
What we learned
That when running out of credits, we can continue working on other platforms such as Codex!
What's next for Career Bar Onboarding
We'll be personalizing the platform based on user responses, and filling out the "Suggested for You" tab with AI.
