Inspiration
During the pandemic, we noticed how disconnected vulnerable people were from local support. We wanted to build a solution that bridges this gap and makes community help more accessible and efficient.
What it does
CareConnect is a platform that connects people in need with local volunteers, NGOs, and services using AI-based matching and geolocation. It tracks requests, offers support options, and gamifies volunteering.
How we built it
We used React for the frontend, Node.js and Express for the backend, and integrated Google Maps API for location tracking. Firebase handled real-time data and user authentication. AI matching was done with basic ML models.
Challenges we ran into
Matching requests efficiently without bias
Ensuring data privacy for users in need
Real-time updates and scalability
Encouraging user trust in a new platform
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully built a working prototype within the hackathon time
Enabled real-time volunteer matching
Designed a simple, inclusive, and accessible UI
Created a gamification model to reward volunteers
What we learned
The importance of ethical AI in social platforms
Handling real-time databases and live user updates
Prioritizing accessibility in design
How small tech solutions can make a big social impact
What's next for CareConnect
We plan to:
Partner with local NGOs and government bodies
Add multilingual support
Implement advanced AI for smarter matching
Launch pilot testing in underserved communities
