Inspiration

Caregiving often feels like a second full-time job. Our team experienced firsthand how fragmented information—appointments, medications, documents—creates stress and mistakes. We wanted to design a solution that turns chaos into clarity and gives families peace of mind.

What it does

It’s a digital companion powered by a Next-Step Agent. It consolidates medical reports, calendars, and family input, then proactively suggests what to do next—like scheduling an MRI or applying for care benefits. It automates scheduling, prepares documents, and even explains forms, reducing mental load and making caregiving collaborative and predictable.

How we built it

We designed a prototype that combines intelligent document processing with proactive automation and a user-friendly dashboard. It supports multi-format input—PDFs via PyMuPDF and images via Tesseract OCR—and uses GPT-4o Mini to extract structured data like medications, appointments, and recommended actions. From this analysis, the system automatically generates tasks, such as booking an MRI or reordering prescriptions. A Proactive Agent runs in the background, monitoring every 10 seconds for low medication stock, upcoming appointments, or new documents. It predicts recurring events, manages quiet hours, and sends timely reminders. The dashboard provides live statistics, color-coded medication warnings, task management, and a complete document archive. Interaction is multimodal: text-to-speech for reminders, speech-to-text for notes, and cross-platform support via Flutter for Web, iOS, and Android. Together, these components create a seamless experience that reduces mental load and turns fragmented caregiving tasks into clear, actionable steps.
