Inspiration
Caring for an elderly parent from a distance is one of the most stressful experiences a family can face. Missed medications, forgotten appointments, and no visibility into daily wellness create anxiety for families and gaps in care. We built CareCircle to solve this coordination problem by bringing families and care professionals together on one platform.
What it does
CareCircle is a healthcare coordination app with two user roles:
Family Coordinator can:
- Create and manage a care profile for their elderly loved one
- Track medications and set schedules
- Book and manage medical appointments with post-visit AI note extraction
- Submit daily wellness check-ins (mood, pain, sleep, appetite, energy)
- Monitor 7-day wellness trends through visual charts
- Browse and book professional care providers
Care Professional can:
- List their services and availability
- Manage appointments with assigned families
- Track care activities
How we built it
CareCircle was built entirely using MeDo, an AI-powered app builder. The app uses a Supabase backend for authentication, role management, and data storage. Key features include voice-to-text check-in input, AI-powered appointment note extraction, and real-time wellness trend visualization using chart.js.
Challenges we ran into
- Database RLS (Row Level Security) policies in Supabase required careful configuration to allow users to read and write only their own data
- Role-based routing needed multiple iterations to correctly separate the Family Coordinator and Care Professional experiences
- Dropdown and form layout bugs across modals required persistent debugging to achieve consistent styling
What we learned
Building a production-ready healthcare coordination app with MeDo showed us how powerful AI app builders have become. We learned how to iterate rapidly using focused prompts, debug database schema mismatches, and design role-based user flows within a no-code environment.
