Inspiration In the wake of COVID-19, many communities are still struggling with disconnection, burnout, and a lack of accessible support systems. We wanted to create a tool that not only helps individuals access wellness resources, but also strengthens the bonds of local communities by bridging volunteers, professionals, and neighbors in need. What it does CareBridge is a community-first mobile app that: Connects users with local volunteers, counselors, and group support sessions. Offers guided exercises and wellness content. Provides premium features via a RevenueCat-powered subscription model (with free trial). Uses OneSignal notifications to keep people engaged and supported. Integrates with Stripe and RevenueCat webhooks to ensure smooth, transparent payments. How we built it Frontend: SwiftUI iOS app, packaged with fastlane for deployment. Subscriptions: Integrated the RevenueCat SDK to manage offerings, paywalls, and trials. Backend: Node.js service that listens to RevenueCat webhooks and connects with Stripe for checkout sessions. Notifications: OneSignal API for timely updates and reminders. CI/CD: GitHub Actions and fastlane for building, testing, and pushing to TestFlight/App Store. Demo: Slideshow and scripted walkthrough of the end-to-end flow. Challenges we ran into Working with subscription flows required careful testing to ensure free trials and upgrades behaved as expected. Voiceover/video generation in a limited environment was tricky under time constraints. Balancing community impact with monetization was a design challenge—we wanted the app to feel inclusive, not gated. Accomplishments that we're proud of Successfully chaining together multiple services (RevenueCat, Stripe, OneSignal) in a seamless workflow. Delivering a deployable SwiftUI app scaffold with real SDK hooks. Designing a product that emphasizes social good alongside technical innovation. Creating a submission package complete with demo, screenshots, app icon, and App Store-ready metadata. What we learned How to integrate RevenueCat quickly into an iOS project for subscription management. Best practices for connecting third-party APIs (Stripe, OneSignal) with serverless flows. The importance of demo storytelling—clear voiceover and visuals make a big difference in communicating impact. That hackathon constraints can force useful simplicity in design. What’s next for CareBridge Conduct small-scale pilot programs with local communities and nonprofits. Expand feature set with AI-driven wellness recommendations. Launch on Google Play using Kotlin Multiplatform to reach wider audiences. Refine monetization strategy to balance sustainability with accessibility (e.g., sponsored free trials). Continue building in public and sharing learnings to inspire other socially-focused apps.
