Inspiration
Imagine a world where every child has a future full of hope and opportunity, but for millions, this remains just a dream. Identification is the first step – a simple yet essential key to unlocking access to education, healthcare, and the support every child deserves.”
What it does
At CareBridge, we’re making this dream a reality. Our platform provides an identification system for everyone in underserved communities, helping them access essential services. With a few clicks, you can submit information for everyone in need, allowing us to verify and publish their stories. so they can get all the care they deserve. Our blog section shares each child’s journey, giving you the chance to learn about their needs, follow their progress, and make a difference. You can donate directly to help a child or sponsor their education, healthcare, and more. And it doesn’t stop there.” Our platform allows users to submit information about those in need of identification. Upon submission, a temporary digital certificate is generated, including a QR code, the individual's photo, and key information. This PDF is then sent to verified organizations like government bodies and NGOs, who can perform ground-level verification. Once verified, the profile becomes eligible for donations and further support.”
How we built it
We built CareBridge using a combination of: Frontend: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for creating an accessible and intuitive user interface. ejs to render the template. Backend: Node.js and Express.js for handling requests and managing data. Database: MongoDB to store user data securely and efficiently.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges we faced was designing the platform to be both accessible and secure for users who might not have strong digital literacy skills. Balancing simplicity with functionality was crucial, as we wanted the site to be easy to navigate but also capable of handling various features without overwhelming users.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of creating a platform that can serve as a lifeline for individuals who may struggle with access to essential resources. Developing CareBridge has shown us the power of technology in bridging social and economic gaps. We’re also proud of implementing a secure login system and structuring data storage to protect user privacy. In doing this project we are proud that we made platform where everyone can contribute , everyone is the part of the change.
What we learned
Building CareBridge taught us the importance of user-centered design, especially for vulnerable populations. We learned how to prioritize accessibility in both design and development, and we gained experience working with APIs to integrate reliable information. Additionally, we learned how to handle sensitive data securely and ethically.
What's next for CareBridge
In the future, we plan to add a points-based reward system to motivate users through a gamified experience, encouraging them to stay engaged and win rewards and make a lasting difference.” Our goal goes beyond simply creating a temporary solution. After the hackathon, we aim to integrate support from NGOs and volunteer professionals, such as doctors, who can provide much-needed healthcare services. We want to expand this ecosystem to include a wide range of services and support options all in a single platform.
