Inspiration: My grandmother did not get the proper medical care she needed for her stomach disease. She was not aware of the counter measures to take because the doctors did not explicitly tell her. This made her bedridden for over a month before she passed peacefully in her sleep. Because of this lack of awareness on what to do, Michael and I made this website to counteract this lack of information and help guide patients with plans and goals to achieve that will help them with their issues.

What it does: CareBloom helps doctors explore patient records and helps patients understand their care through AI chat, personalized daily tasks, and XP rewards.

How we built it: We used Next.js to create separate doctor and patient dashboards connected through shared sample patient data. Used Claude + Vercel to build out the website

Challenges we ran into: We had to make medical information useful for doctors while keeping it simple for patients, all within a short build time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of: We connected medical records to daily goals, giving patients something useful to act on after an appointment.

What we learned: Making healthcare accessible means considering how people understand information and what they can realistically do each day.

What's next for CareBloom: We want feedback from disabled users and doctors, better accessibility support, and optional Apple Watch and Strava connections.
