Inspiration
Ever since the pandemic hit, the world has taken an outright turn towards digitalization. Specially it has changed the very concept of how healthcare was visualized. Instead of visiting hospitals and healthcare facilities physically, people can now remotely use the clinical capabilities such as telemedicine, virtual consultations, online lab testing etc. through the internet. There are still gaps and areas left where digitizing healthcare can make life easier. When it comes to care of old age people, people recovering from chronic diseases, illness, recovering from surgery or mentally/physically disabled, providing care at home can be challenging for families. At these times people can not always afford to be admitted to hospitals especially during such pandemic hours. Moreover, there is always a perennial risk of hospital infections and stress due to prolonged stay in sterile environment. In these situations people mostly look for personalized care and attention. Sometimes finding these services can be challenging and time taking. To bridge this gap and make this search seamless we have come up with a solution which aims at offering a range of services aimed at bringing high quality, personalized and comprehensive healthcare at the comfort of your home right up to your doorstep.
What it does
Care4U application leverages a list of healthcare facilities which helps users to hire a qualified caregiver to take care of your loved ones at the comfort of their homes. It provides a range of services including Nursing care, Therapy care, Companionship, Domestic help, Counselling and Doctor’s Visit. Users can register themselves and book services according to their needs at the ease of just one click in no time.
How we built it
Requirement: To build a home healthcare service provider platform we had to think and research on the areas which had a scope for advancement in terms of digitization. With comprehensive research we came up with different types of services which include nursing care, therapy care, companionship, counselling, domestic help and doctor’s visit. Design: Based on user type New or Existing users can login and enter their details in the patient form, further proceeding users can make selections based on service type, city, service provider and schedule date & time. Upon confirm booking the request will move to selected service provider Admin’s work list for approval. Once approved user will receive an automated confirmation email with the details of the assigned care provider. Build: First we built the basic work flow then broken down the functionality development in stages. Later worked on editing the portal wrt user and admin. Test: Built operator IDs for each service provider and tested the end to end flow with different selections of user type and service provider .
Challenges we ran into
Building an end to end solution within a short time frame was certainly a challenge. Also making and editing video was new to us. There were some technical challenges with the cloud environment while building the application but lastly we were able to overcome.
What we learned
It was a great learning experience starting from researching on the idea to building an end to end application. We learned some new features of Pega 8.7 - Cosmos UI, automatic references between cases in case management, data initialization at case creation in App studio, Pega IVA etc. We spent almost 2 hours daily together with team to collaboratively work on the project. Designing and building an application within such a short period of time provided us great opportunity to learn and work together as a team.
What's next for Care4U
- We are aiming to develop the solution into mobile app as it would be more convenient and user friendly.
- Creating a Chatbot
- Enabling location feature for better reach.
- Using Pega Marketing capabilities to build a strategy which will provide offers to users based on their credit score. This could increase the engagement with customers and help in business growth.
