Inspiration
My inspiration for Care4Plants was the theme of the hackathon, the environment. I've also always wanted to grow a plant, but I've never actually been able to. My plants either didn't get watered enough or they just weren't fit for where I was growing them, since I live in hot place. I then saw the theme for the hackathon, which made me decide to make this website.
What it does
Care4Plants helps people find how sustainable and easy certain plants were. There are pictures of a few of the most popular plants, with descriptions about how sustainable they are, what climate they are best grown in, and when you need to water them.
How we built it
I built Care4Plants with HTML, CSS, and Bootstrap. I also used Qoom as my platform that I used to build Care4Plants.
Challenges we ran into
One challenge I ran into was my CSS not working, which ended up being because my CSS wasn't linked properly. I accidentally added an extra space, which led to my CSS not working. Also, my font in my navbar wouldn't be correctly formatted, so I had to come up with a compromise.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud that my website looks useable and it looks neat. I like that it's really user-friendly, and that it's easy to read.
What we learned
I learned a lot about Bootstrap, including cards, navbars, and containers. I also learned a little on how to use spacing in Bootstrap.
What's next for Care4Plants
Next, I'd like to add more plants in a more efficient way. I wasn't able to add as much plants as I wanted, given that I accidentally messed up the start of the hackathon time due to timezones. I'd also like to add a log in system where users could add plants and see if they recently watered them enough. I could also add a machine learning aspect to my code and make it be able to tell if the plant needs more water.
