InspiratInspiration

The Care Home Cleaning Support project was created to make compliance easier for UK care providers. Many care managers struggle to balance infection control, COSHH documentation, equipment safety, and daily operational pressures. This project brings those essentials together in one accessible place, helping teams stay organised, confident, and inspection-ready.

What I Learned

Building this resource reinforced how valuable clear, consistent information design can be in regulated care environments. Even small changes in structure or wording can significantly affect how confidently managers and staff follow guidance on hygiene, safety, and compliance. It also highlighted the importance of linking related topics together so users can move naturally between cleaning, equipment, and regulatory responsibilities.

How It Was Built

The site was built using simple, reliable web standards — HTML5 and CSS3 — and deployed across multiple platforms to test visibility and indexing performance. Each version uses structured meta data, Open Graph tags, and contextual internal links to Able’s wider resource content, including detailed guidance on care home equipment compliance and LOLER responsibilities. This approach ensures information remains discoverable while avoiding duplication or conflicting signals.

Challenges

The main challenge involved managing multiple hosting environments while maintaining consistent content and clear canonical signals for search engines. Every deployment required careful validation in Google Search Console to ensure accurate indexing, prevent crawl conflicts, and maintain long-term visibility as new compliance resources were added.
