Inspiration
This project was heavily inspired by the old school shoot-em-up games that used 2D side-scrolling shooting styles and the more problem solving based type games like bejeweled that challenged the players to really think.
What it does
A bomb was strapped to our spaceship by an evil chinchilla, and our base on Earth has figured out the code to defuse. But, trapped in a field of radioactive asteroids, our code has been both blocked and randomly encrypted. Destroy the normal asteroids to successfully unblock the code, and destroy the special asteroids to progressively decrypt the message.
How we built it
Mainly using Pygame, we used OOP, sprite functionalities, letter to string analysis, and concatenation.
Challenges we ran into
Time zone issues made scheduling working very difficult and the division of workload across our members since we were quite literally, across the world.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Fixing random glitches that popped up, learning git, and merging successfully. Infinitely scrolling space background... Woo
What we learned
Git, Pygame, working in a team, and overcoming technical hurdles together.
What's next for Care, Connection, Chinchillas
Implementing the asteroids and possibly a save game state/high score capability.
