Inspiration

Going to the doctor is a stressful experience for adults, let alone children. Being constantly surrounded by lots of different people and being inundated with complex information is overwhelming enough for parents. As a result, a lot of children aren’t really sure what’s going on in their own care. We created Care Companion to help make the process easier for children while not putting any additional responsibilities on their staff and keeping children's health of Texas's existing technologies in mind

What it does

Care Companion keeps track of all the milestones that patients must complete throughout their care, keeps a log of all the staff who provide that care, provides easy-to-understand resources so children can take control of their own health, and lets them log symptoms in an easier way to provide doctors with more specific information faster.

How we built it

We used React Native with Expo to build a cross-platform app for both Android and iOS. For the backend, we used Firestore on Firebase.

What's next for Care Companion

We would like to add some machine learning or business logic to the symptoms tracker to automatically provide children with some feedback based on what they submit on a regular basis.
