Care Companion

Supporting Caregivers

Care Companion assists caregivers cope with stress they often face while caring for a loved one.

To minimize stress factors - mainly caused by insecurity and poor time management - Care Companion tracks data of the patient which can then be easily surveilled by the caregiver. Furthermore Care Companion gives basic medical advice and allows mutiple caregivers of one patient to connect and exchange recent experiences or distribute tasks.

What it does

• gives a brief and comprehensive overview of the patients current condition by monitoring vital signs (i.e. heartbeat and temperature)
• tracks the patients position and recognizes if the patient left home unexpectedly
• sends notifications in case of an emergency situation
• provides medical background information and quick tips about the patients disease and ways to help
• acts as a platform for communication amongst multiple caregivers and/or family members
• supports caregivers cope better with their situation by acting as a digital companion

Technologies used

Current State:

• kontakt.io "Card Beacon" for tracking the patient in house
• simulated vital signs :)
• Amazon Web Services API-Gateway for synchronizing data between patient and caregiver application

What's next:

• medical wearable device providing vital signs and GPS data in real-time which also connects to our server
