This skill, Care Assistant, aims at helping seniors remain independent. The population is getting older; 40 Million Americans are now age 65 and older; about 1/3 of them live alone. Living independently doesn't mean to be alone especially when you need help.
This skill, My Assistant, can reach out to caregivers (Children, Family, Friends, neighbors, etc...) when you need help and your phone is unreachable. It is easy to set up and costs nothing.
What it does
Once set up, you can utter "Alexa, ask Care Assistant to call for help". The skill will call your predefined contact (typically your child, caregiver or nurse) on your behalf; she gives them your name, age, and address and ask for assistance.
Challenges I ran into
The integration between the Lambda function and AWS Connect and passing values across.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I'm most proud of creating a skill that adds value to people's lives, easy to use and free. The gratification of being able to help our aging population especially means a lot to me.
