Inspiration: I love card collecting. It's a hobby and a business for me. When I recently lost my job, I realized that there could be a better way for collectors to connect outside of large sales platforms and scrolling though social media group posts. I did some research and jumped right into development using Bolt!
What it does: This app allows each user to take photos of the cards that they want to maintain in their personal digital binder. The photos are time-stamped so other users know they are recent. They can list a price, or solicit offers for the card. Other users can do a search for cards in the search range that they set. The two can make a deal in cash, trade or a combination. Payment is not integrated into the app (yet). Once the two parties complete a trade, they can then rate each other on the overall experience, creating an ongoing "Vouch" system. There is an integrated chat system as well as a personal transaction history. Users can connect by searches, or posting their unique QR Code to social media for greater reach. This will be a subscription bases app, with a low cost entry point, making it accessible to collectors worldwide.
How we built it: I used AI prompts for the entire development of this app.
Challenges we ran into: I was learning how to use Bolt at the same time I was developing the App. There were times that I would get to a great solution, but then with the next prompt, the design would change. It took me a while to learn the roll-back feature as well as the lock code features. I used the prompt to bypass it for now, but If you encounter the login page while navigating the app LOGIN: [email protected] / PW: password123. The second link has the bolt.new badge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of: I had an inital version of this app in 4 hours. Completing this app in general in two weeks with no coding experience was a blast! I recently went to Magicon-Las Vegas and queried several collectors about the usability of the app. It was met with overwhelmingly positive responses.
What we learned: AI app creation is still a finicky solution. Learning the basics of building an app with AI prompts will open the door to new opportunities. I already have another app that I will be developing for a customer! And in the time I submitted, I have a second customer requesting a product!
What's next for CardX: There are additional features that I want to add to the app, such as allowing a user to set their location to any city in the world so they can do a nearby search if they know they will be traveling to a specific city. This app is for the Card Collecting Community, so we look forward to integrating more based on user feedback. But first, we need to go live!
