Why we worked on Cardio Sync

As African Americans, we are disproportionately affected by cardiovascular issues, a reality rooted in a complex web of factors including limited access to quality healthcare, higher levels of chronic stress, socioeconomic disparities, and systemic bias within the medical system. These conditions often go undiagnosed or are poorly managed, leading to significantly higher rates of hypertension, heart disease, and stroke within our communities. Consequently, this contributes to an increase in premature deaths that could otherwise be prevented with adequate medical attention and early intervention.

Adding to this public health crisis, recent presidential decisions have led to a reduction in federal funding allocated to healthcare services and public health initiatives. Cuts to Medicaid expansion, community health programs, and preventative care resources disproportionately impact marginalized communities who already face barriers to consistent and affordable care. These policy shifts not only worsen existing health disparities but also limit our ability to respond to them, leaving our communities more vulnerable and under-resourced in the face of life-threatening conditions.

Cardio Sync is our solution to this problem. It allows the doctors to monitor the people of these marginalized communities and help them at any time.
