Inspiration

A lot of students have trouble learning, especially if they have a disability, so we decided to try and help solve that problem making learning a bit easier for everyone.

What it does

CardHacks is a light-weight web based flashcard software that can run on any device. It allows the user to create flash cards, save sets for viewing later and keep score of the number of correct/incorrect questions. In later updates we will be adding the ability for make groups and see how well your other group members are doing in challenge mode. Challenge mode will help make studying a bit more interesting and competitive (help motivate people to study, everyone likes winning).

How we built it

We built CardHacks using JavaScript as the main language which was a fun challenge as we are all first time hackathon attendees and haven't built something like this (especially with people we've never met before).

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges we ran into was getting the database setup as none of us had any database experience. We also ran into the time constraint challenge of not having enough time for every single one of our ideas, which is disappointing but gives us something to work on!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to get this software live in beta within the time we had as this is all of our first live project for everyone to see.

What we learned

We learned a lot about databases, JavaScript, and software development in general. I personally learned that you can't just jump into programming it, you need to make a plan, figure out what the software should do and how you're going to accomplish doing it.

What's next for CardHacks

Learn as much as we can and grow into being the best developers we can be.
