Inspiration
My biggest inspiration was the theme of connectivity, I wanted to make something that a lot of people can customize to their liking and also something that can serve as a way to showcase the different things in the world.
What it does
It is a Card Matching game that the user can play over and over again. They are matching cards to find what the person likes (me for the project), with in a given time period.
How we built it
Used html, css, JS. For version control I went with GitHub and my IDE is the wonderful VSCode.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was time, I did not have the full day to focus on the project so everything I have done reminds me that I could have done so much better if I had more time. That and the fact that I could not do the art myself. I wanted to make multiple levels like Card Connections: New York, where the user is trying to match cards related to NY, or Card Connections: College, where the user is matching cards related to college experiences. Unfortunately, that did not happen.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I really like the way I set up the grid and also the color choices for the background. The images are not made by me so credit goes to the wonderful artists that created them, but I like how it all worked together in a theme.
What we learned
A lot of fun things about colors with css and some basic animation. Along with that my goal was to just try something new and use html/css/javascript to make something cute.
What's next for Card Connections
Better functionality, more debugging, and a ton of new levels. Card Connections is all about connecting to each other and to the world. My hope is to add functionality where users are able to upload images of things that they like and can share the game with others to have fun while getting to know each other.
