Summary
Introducing CarBud, an easily installable attentiveness device that helps teens drive safer. CarBud consists of a main device that sits on the lip of the dash and haptic motors, for intuitive feedback, that are on the steering wheel. Our device provides teen drivers with real-time feedback to keep them focused on the road. With the use of an accelerometer, gyroscope, and a camera, CarBud is able to detect when a driver is distracted, suddenly braking, or in a car accident. Based on this, the driver is provided with haptic and audio feedback or in more extreme cases, their parents and emergency services are contacted. Once a drive is finished, teens and parents will also get a driving report to help them drive safer in the future.
