Inspiration
Many people want to protect the environment but do not know how much carbon their daily activities produce. We wanted to create a simple solution that helps people understand and reduce their carbon footprint.
What it does
CarbonWise AI is a proposed web platform that estimates carbon emissions from vehicle usage, electricity consumption, and other daily activities. It displays the results in a simple dashboard and provides AI-powered suggestions to help users make eco-friendly choices.
How we built it
We plan to use React.js and Tailwind CSS for the frontend, Python Flask for the backend, Supabase for storing user data and emission history, and the Gemini API for personalized suggestions. Chart.js will help display emission data through charts.
Challenges we ran into
We expect challenges in calculating carbon emissions accurately from different daily activities. Choosing reliable emission factors, integrating the AI API, and presenting the results in a simple dashboard may also be challenging. We plan to address these challenges through research, testing, and gradual development.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to develop an idea that combines carbon footprint calculation, AI-powered suggestions, and progress tracking in one platform. We aim to make environmental awareness simple and useful for everyone.
What we learned
We learned about the importance of carbon footprint tracking, emission factors, and how web technologies and AI can be combined to support eco-friendly decisions.
What's next for CarbonWise AI
We plan to build a working prototype, test the emission calculations, improve AI recommendations, and add more activity categories to help users understand and reduce their carbon footprint.
