By 2036, global carbon markets are projected to be worth trillions. Yet the small-scale farmers restoring soil health and actively storing carbon through regenerative practices remain structurally excluded from this economy due to expensive audits and certification systems designed for industrial farms. Millions of farmers rotate crops, reduce tillage and improve soil health, but they see none of the financial return. Global institutions including the United Nations and the World Economic Forum have repeatedly warned that carbon markets risk deepening inequality if access and verification remain expensive and centralised. CarbonTrade addresses this gap. CarbonTrade is a dual-sided, AI-powered carbon scoring and blockchain-backed marketplace designed specifically for small-scale producers. Unlike existing platforms that either certify large-scale projects or simply facilitate carbon trading, CarbonTrade lowers the verification barrier itself using AI-driven scoring and risk transparency to create an inclusive access layer to carbon markets. Through the Farmer Portal, users input land data and regenerative practices. Our model estimates carbon sequestration using environmental benchmarks and generates a transparent Carbon Score with AI verification. Through the Buyer Portal, corporations can discover and purchase transparent, risk-adjusted carbon credits directly from farmers.
Feasibility: Built using existing soil and climate datasets, algorithmic scoring models and standard web marketplace architecture. We replace costly physical audits with scalable AI-driven modelling and risk-adjusted verification. This lowers access barriers without disrupting existing carbon market structures.
Creativity: CarbonTrade unifies carbon verification and trading in a single platform. By embedding AI carbon scoring and blockchain-backed certification directly into a marketplace, we transform carbon from a costly audit process into an accessible, tradeable digital asset for small-scale producers
Clarity: We address known carbon market risks (self-reported data bias, fraud and buyer uncertainty) through transparent methodology, AI verification, anomaly detection and traceable blockchain records.
Sustainability: CarbonTrade strengthens environmental sustainability (incentivising regenerative agriculture), economic sustainability (new revenue streams for farmers) and systemic sustainability (scalable, transparent climate finance infrastructure).
