Inspiration

We were inspired by the growing need to make carbon footprint tracking more accessible and engaging for people of all ages. By leveraging technology, we aimed to create an intuitive tool that encourages sustainable habits.

What it does

CarbonTracker allows users to log their daily activities and calculates their carbon footprint using real-time data from the Verdn API. It provides actionable insights and personalized recommendations to help users reduce their environmental impact.

How we built it

We developed CarbonTracker using Python for backend processing, integrating the Verdn API for real-time carbon calculations. The frontend was designed with a simple, user-friendly interface to ensure accessibility for all age groups.

Challenges we ran into

One major challenge was efficiently integrating the Verdn API to provide accurate and fast carbon footprint calculations. Additionally, optimizing the UI to balance simplicity with informative insights required multiple iterations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully built a functional prototype within 24 hours that provides real-time carbon footprint tracking. Our intuitive design and data-driven approach make sustainability more accessible and actionable for users.

What we learned

What's next for CarbonTracker

We plan to expand CarbonTracker by incorporating more data sources and gamification elements to encourage user engagement. Future updates will also include social features that allow users to compare their carbon footprint with friends and participate in sustainability challenges.
