Inspiration

The inspiration behind CarbonMirror came from realizing that most people contribute to carbon emissions every day without truly understanding the environmental impact of their habits. Existing carbon tracking tools often feel too technical or disconnected from everyday life. I wanted to build something more human, interactive, and emotionally engaging. A platform that makes sustainability easier to understand and act upon through AI and visualization.

How I used Medo

I used MeDo as the primary platform to rapidly prototype and build the full-stack MVP through conversational development. Instead of manually building every component from scratch, I structured prompts around user experience, sustainability storytelling, AI interactions, and dashboard functionality.

I iterated with MeDo in multiple stages by generating the landing page and branding, building the AI chat experience, creating the emissions dashboard, adding gamification features, and refining the futuristic UI design.

Most impressive parts MeDo help generate

One of the most impressive parts MeDo helped generate was the interactive sustainability dashboard and “Planet Health” visualization concept. Through conversational prompting, I was able to quickly turn abstract ideas into visually polished interfaces that made the project feel immersive and demo-ready within a short timeframe.

CarbonMirror solves the problem of invisible carbon consumption by helping users connect daily habits with environmental consequences in a simple and engaging way.

Challenges I ran into

One challenge was simplifying complex environmental calculations into an MVP that still felt realistic and meaningful. Carbon emissions can vary significantly depending on many factors, so balancing scientific accuracy with user friendly experiences required thoughtful design decisions.

Another challenge was creating an emotional sustainability experience instead of just another analytics dashboard. I wanted CarbonMirror to feel personal, visual, and motivating rather than overwhelming or guilt driven.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud of transforming a sustainability concept into a polished, functional AI powered application within a hackathon environment. CarbonMirror successfully combines AI conversations, carbon tracking, gamification, futuristic UI design, and environmental storytelling into one cohesive experience.

I'm also proud of creating a platform that makes climate awareness feel accessible and engaging for everyday users.

What I learned

This project reinforced how powerful AI assisted development platforms like MeDo can be for rapid innovation. I learned that conversational development dramatically speeds up ideation, prototyping, and iteration, allowing creators to focus more on solving meaningful problems rather than repetitive setup work.

I also learned that sustainability products become much more impactful when they connect emotionally with users instead of only presenting raw data.

What's next for CarbonMirror

The next step for CarbonMirror is expanding the platform into a more intelligent and community driven sustainability ecosystem. Future plans include:

  • real time carbon tracking integrations,
  • AI powered sustainability coaching,
  • personalized climate goals,
  • community eco challenges,
  • and localized environmental recommendations.

I also plan to improve emissions accuracy using external environmental datasets and APIs to make CarbonMirror even more actionable and impactful for sustainable living.
