We were inspired by how serious climate change has gotten and wanted to do something about it. Doing some research, we found that smaller businesses play a great role in our economy and currently have no incentive to measure their carbon footprint. We wanted to create a solution that makes sustainability more achievable and rewarding for businesses.
Our app provides a simple, user-friendly carbon footprint calculator based on basic data. It then matches the carbon emission levels to preset loan rates, offering better rates to greener businesses. This encourages sustainable practices while supporting business growth.
We are proud of creating a working prototype that combines environmental impact with financial incentives. This was all built with a low-code platform, which allowed for a faster design time. We also successfully created a clean, easy-to-use interface that can easily scale to different industries.
Throughout this project, we learned how powerful low-code tools can be in building real-world solutions quickly and efficiently. We also deepened our understanding of how financial incentives can drive environmental change and how to align technology with sustainability goals.
Next, we hope to expand the app by integrating machine learning with data sources, partnering with ESG funds, and offering carbon certification badges for businesses. We hope to continue to improve the accuracy of the calculator and expand to other sectors.
We built our project using mainly python, javascript, tailwind CSS, react.js, and next.js; This leads directly into our challenges because this was our first time building a full stack project, so it was difficult splitting up work and getting the frontend and backend to communicate.
