Carbon Cam Android Application

One of the most important thing which comes to play in everyone’s life is sustainability. A recent focus on it have grabbed attention by many however, there are still not adequate platforms and resources available and accessible to everyone about the issues and what are the harmful effects of practicing non-sustainable ways of life.

To solve this problem, we decided to use the concept of pictures and images because these forms of media are accessible to everyone and anyone can understand it ranging from a king of 1 year to an elderly person of 100 years because of its form.

Furthermore, towards the shift of a technological era, we are coming to an age where everything is digitalized and the growing importance sustainable environmental practices, it is predicted that after a few decades, almost everyone will have access to internet and everyone can take it’s advantage.

So, our application has a feature which is able to take the picture of the object by operating through the camera and record it’s dimensions and its composition are then matched by the similar looking images in the collection of records which contains the images of almost every possible and existing plastic bottles, paper sheets, tin can and wrapper. Furthermore, due to our large collection of data, the similarity can be predicted by high precision and accuracy.

After finding out which category of item is captured, our system does backtracking and forward-tracking of how much resources can be saved by recycling the item and what’s the carbon emission which will come from the object.
