Inspiration
Climate Change is a major issue and yet, though it's acknowledged by professionals, not much has been done to alter the state of the issue.
What it does
The app incentivizes reducing carbon emissions by becoming more aware of the means of the transportation that people use through a point system. Additionally, a website advertises the app, while also containing resources that people can consult.
How we built it
The website was created through Wix.com and the app was created through Code.org, using Javascript language.
Challenges we ran into
Finding credible organizations was difficult, as verifying their work was tedious. Many organizations didn't allow for collaborative editing, so it was difficult to work accordingly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The website looks practical and is easy to navigate, something that was a target goal initially. We're also proud of the functionality of the app and how interesting the final product can be perceived as. The potential of the app is something we're proud of, as it can be applied to the real world as an actual application.
What we learned
We learned how to better manage time and divvy up work, as well as create a consumable application and website.
What's next for Carbon12
Carbon12 is a practical project and in terms of the future, pitching the idea to those interested may take the project to a tangible state.
