Inspiration

I've always wondered on what I can do to make better decisions for the environment, but I usually get stuck in 2 areas, first, in what I can do that would be better, and secondly, what impact am I actually making on the environment by making these decisions.

What it does

You describe your daily tasks, and the website ai takes in other information to tell you what swaps you can make, it then also tells you how much carbon emissions you currently do. It also grows a garden after you make enough swaps in your day-to-day life representing the wildlife you saved by making your decisions.

How we built it

It was built using Python, CSS, and JavaScript. Claude was used to organize the data and used to create the AI to help control the website and find your new decisions you can make to help the environment.

Challenges we ran into

A few challenges were making the AI more smart, as in the ways increasing it's knowledge on the environment, and figuring out how to list out all the tasks you do, and how to grow the garden along you when you make better decisions.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Finishing the AI and figuring out the tracking part was definitely the most satisfying part of this project, it was super hard to do, but it was definitely worth the countless hours spent into making it.

What we learned

We learnt a lot in coding java and CSS and as me just using my website as my own personal thing to make better decisions, I learnt how much of an impact we do actually make on the environment.

What's next for Carbon Tree

Honestly, there are so many more cool features that could be added, for example, we could make an area, where many people can collaborate in teams for fun challenges so that we both make a positive environmental change, and we also have fun while doing so.
