Inspiration

Climate change is an important issue that needs to be addressed and taken action as it is impacted by everday life's activities.

What it does

Calculate your human carbon footprint and compare it with the global average, along with advice on reducing it.

How we built it

We built the site using Velo by Wix along with JavaScript for the functionality of the site and to make it interactive.

Challenges we ran into

How to make a button goes to the next layer on the same page, implement documentation from Velo Api, import database into Wix and use that database for calculations

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Able to calculate the average carbon from the database that was implemented as well as make the display message functionality along with button using JavaScript.

What we learned

Velo documentation for API, getting the ID from Wix to make it interactive. Learn JavaScript and how to work with template literal. Design the website and implement the backend for a front-end focus website builder.

What's next for Carbon Reducer

Converting it into React and making the site more interactive, using Twilio API for SMS or Email to Users for reminders to hit their target goal of carbon footprint percentage. Adjust the site size so that accessing it across all devices and monitor size will result in the same layout from Editor's X design.
