Inspiration

We were shocked by the total amount of greenhouse gases (including carbon dioxide and methane) that are generated by our actions. The average carbon footprint for a person in the United States is 16 tons, one of the highest rates in the world. We wanted to make a change and reduce the carbon footprint emissions and hence we built this website which will tell us exactly how much we emit based on various factors.

What it does

Calculates Carbon footprint for the users actions based on various factors like: Travel (Car, Train, Flight) Electricity Electronics Home Food and Drinks Paper and Education and so on

How we built it

We have built the app using Java script and React for the frontend part and Node.js for all of the backend. We have hosted our app on vercel.

Challenges we ran into

This is our first project using JS as the main programming language, earlier we used to build projects using python and django for backend so using Node.js and React was a big challenge for us.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We got to learn lots of new concepts in React and JS as we were using this for the first time and this is our first project in Nodejs.
