Carbon Footprint Tracker

Inspiration

We were inspired by the recent developments in climate present in our community and around the world as well as the pushes made by activists and scientists to mitigate this issue.

What it does

Our tool enables the user to track their carbon emissions across a 7 day time period. Our code then evaluates the users emissions and rates them based on averages. Lastly, it graphs this data to show weekly trends.

How we built it

We researched the proportions of how much each factor affects ones carbon emission. We decided to incorporate the major CO2 producing factors.

Challenges we ran into

We originally had trouble formatting the GUI.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully utilized the user's data to create a graphical representation and algorithm to determine their footprint.

What we learned

We learned how to utilize custom tkinter to create a pleasant visual experience for the user.

What's next for Carbon Footprint Tracker

We hope to store the user's data to show trends over a longer period of time.
