Inspiration
I was inspired to make this product because I wanted to be able to track my carbon footprint and find out how much carbon I am emitting through my actions. I also wanted people who use this app to be aware of how they can also reduce their carbon footprint.
What it does
The app asks you to enter multiple inputs ranging from electricity bill to yearly mileage and then calculates an output (your carbon footprint) and tells you whether your carbon footprint is too high, average, good, or excellent.
How we built it
I used HTML, CSS, Bootstrap for styling, and javascript.
Challenges we ran into
The submit button was not working and since I am a beginner, I had to watch some tutorials on how exactly to process my inputs correctly and calculate the carbon footprint.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
-Second hackathon and my (working) application has a positive impact on our environment
What we learned
-Fundamentals of HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Bootstrap
What's next for Carbon Footprint Tracker
-Mobile applications and also take into account more inputs to give a more accurate footprint value.
