Inspiration
Our business to business web application is inspired by Credit Karma, a credit optimization platform. However, our product is designed to optimize the CO2 emission of our user and recommending companies based on the user's CO2 emissions.
What it does
When looking at sustainable companies, not many people are aware of the positive impacts they can make on your life. Utilizing Carbon Karma, the user understands their Carbon Emission score while receiving sustainable company data.
We built a web application for users to find out their score, then they can find businesses to help them live more sustainable lives. We connect our users with clean energy companies in their area and more!
Furthermore, we also developed a challenge system where our users can compete against their friends to have a lower Carbon Emission score by the end of the month. Stellar Network account addresses are generated for them, and Lumens can be converted to their currency.
How we built it
We built our front end with jQuery to access our backend which is built on Node. We also used the Stellar Network to process payments and generate account addresses.
Challenges we ran into
We had some issues with Firebase so we had to swap our backend 2 days into the event.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully developing the Stellar Network integration as well as the user interface.
What we learned
JQuery, Stellar Network
What's next for Carbon Footprint
We want to continue to connect more companies with our users in the future. Our business model is based on referral commissions from the companies we connect, as well as charging a small fee for using the Stellar Network challenge system.
