Carbon Footprint For Different Food Items

Inspiration

With the globally changing climate, it's high time that we start realising that pollution in a general sense isn't just caused by corporations and institutions, but we as an individual play a role in our personal lifestyle choices. This project is actually meant for the same realisation. By looking at the carbon footprints of the basic food items that we consume in day to day life we can get an idea of the impact we have on the climate

What it does

It shows carbon emission of different Food items

How we built it- We build it using React CSS and JSON for data management

Challenges we ran into- We had a had time converting our Excel to JSON and implementing Contextual search was a very big hassle as we were doing it for the first time.

What we learned: we learned how to make a search bar using react and how to integrate JSON files

What's next for Carbon Footprint For Different Food Items: we want to be able to tell carbon footprint of different consumable products with an app which uses machine learning and AI to recognise consumable and tell it using your phone camera
