Inspiration
Food production has a great impact on the environment and the climate. According to OurWorldInData, it is responsible for one-quarter of the world's greenhouse gas emissions.
What it does
After selecting a food product and the frequency of consuming it, the calculator outputs user's contribution in kg to the annual greenhouse gas emissions.
How I built it
I used HTML, CSS and Javascript to build the calculator with data provided by a study conducted by researchers Joseph Poore, and Thomas Nemecek.
Challenges I ran into
I'd never used Javascript before, so most of my time was spent on watching tutorials and learning the basics. I struggled with passing parameters to functions in JS. Overall, it was challenging to build it within 24h.

What's next for Carbon Footprint Food Calculator
Improve the design and web responsiveness and add more functionalities.
