Inspiration
In 7th grade, I learned about climate change and how carbon emissions play a role in changing the environment for the worse. That inspired my team and me to create a website that helps others reduce their carbon footprint by giving them helpful suggestions.
What it does
The website asks the user for their name, region, and weight when they are filling out the survey as an individual or as a business. Based upon that, they will fill out a survey with 15 questions. They will then receive their carbon footprint, ways to reduce or minimize it, and how well they are doing compared to others.
How we built it
The website is built with 3 programming languages, which are HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. We used vibe coding to help us program. Ee often had to double-check the code given by the AI we used and fix anything wrong in the code.
Challenges we ran into
In the beginning, we did not know how to connect all 3 programming languages to create 1 functional website. However, in the end, we managed to join all three languages to create an amazing website.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of how the website turned out. The visuals looked great in the end, and the final product had everything that we wanted. Even though we faced struggles in the process, we overcame them and succeeded.
What we learned
We learned how to probably vibe code and how to double-check code that is created by AI. We learned how to divide work as a team and combine code produced by different people. We also learned the basics of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and their purpose.
What's next for Carbon Footprint App
We are planning to implement live data into the website later on so that the program will give better suggestions to the user. We also want to have the program show the amount of carbon emissions in the atmosphere and the dangerous effects that carbon has.
