Inspiration
We were inspired by apps that encourage users to make sustainable daily choices.
What it does
This app calculates what your carbon emissions were for your choices of transportation, food, or material goods.
How we built it
We built this using Django for its MVC framework. We coded the backend in python, and the frontend in HTML and Javascript.
Challenges we ran into
We had challenges implementing the transportation calculator due to running short on time. We ran out of time to improve the UX design of three of our web pages. We also ran into some issues with Github.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the functions we did have time to implement, and the frontend design of our home page.
What we learned
We learned how to plan out our idea to make development as smooth and quick as possible.
What's next for Carbon Emissions Calculator
We would love to implement a feature allowing the user to get achievements or awards for making sustainable choices in order to encourage these decisions more directly. We also would love to expand the options in the food section.
