Inspiration

While I was preparing for my project, I had to go through different blogs, videos, apps to understand in-depth, "What are Carbon Footprints?", "How is Global Warming affecting Climate Change?", "What are CO2 Equivalents?", "How does eating Red Meat affect Climate Change?", and many more. While researching about it, I also wanted to look at how the apps work. I almost downloaded around 35 apps, out of which only 2 provided the insights, and a good user experience. So, providing a great user experience through gamification and making it very simple was the main objective and motivation behind this project.

What it does

CarbonCut is a repository of all the resources you need to help our planet Earth from Carbon Footprints (more features to be added soon). We have also added Carbon Footprint Calculator as the BETA version. In short, it is the website that'll help to improve the future of planet Earth.

How we built it

We created a Product Vision Board in Notion and then designed it accordingly in Figma.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest hurdle was the time zone, but the team was very collaborative. We stayed up late and woke up early for the sake of this project. Though the project was interesting, figuring out APIs was a big deal for us. Still, we managed to learn API but were not able to use them because Webflow only provided that feature in the paid version.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Product Strategizing, UI Design, and UX Prototyping of this product. Though we didn't apply the concepts of APIs, it helped us learn something different and pushed us out of our comfort zone, which is a good thing.

What we learned

Using Notion and Discord, Creating Product Vision Board, Integrating APIs in Webflow, Using Figma efficiently

What's next for Carbon Cut

Launching it in Webflow by purchasing the paid plan, or learning to code it from scratch. Adding more topics like Deforestation, Overpopulation, Pollution, etc. Test the product in the market, specifically work more on the Calculator. Building a mobile app that includes all the necessary resources, including to-do lists, calendars, reminders, carbon dioxide equivalent calculators, and more.
