Inspiration

The growing climate crisis inspired our team to create Carbon Compass, aiming to empower individuals to monitor and reduce their carbon footprint with ease. As a group passionate about sustainability, we wanted to make a tangible impact.

What it does

Carbon Compass helps users calculate their carbon footprint, offset emissions, and join a community to share sustainable tips, all in one platform.

How we built it

Built using React for the frontend, integrated with Supabase for authentication and data, and deployed on Netlify. The Bolt.new platform accelerated development with AI assistance, enabling our team of five to collaborate efficiently.

Challenges we ran into

Integrating real-time data with Supabase and ensuring a smooth logout experience across components were tricky but resolved with debugging and context management as a team effort.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully deployed to Netlify, integrated with GitHub, and created a user-friendly interface for tracking sustainability progress as a cohesive team of five.

What we learned

Learned to leverage AI tools like Bolt.new, manage state with React context, optimize deployment pipelines with Netlify, and collaborate effectively in a team of five.

What's next for Carbon Compass

Plan to add AI-driven personalized sustainability tips, mobile app support, and advanced analytics for deeper insights, with our team continuing to innovate together.
