Inspiration
We believe that we don't inherit the Earth from our ancestors, but instead, we borrow it from our children. The effects of carbon emissions on the environment have been significant in recent years, with global CO2 emissions reaching an alarming 35 billion metric tons. To ensure a healthy environment for future generations, we must reduce carbon emissions by 45% by 2030. Carbon Capture Hub is our solution to this global issue. The inspiration behind Carbon Capture Hub is the pressing need for individuals to take action and reduce their carbon footprint to mitigate the impacts of climate change. The team believes that by empowering individuals with the tools and knowledge to track their carbon emissions, they can make more sustainable decisions and collectively work towards a more sustainable future.
What it does
Carbon Capture Hub is a platform that helps individuals track their carbon emissions across different categories such as transportation, fashion, and energy consumption. The platform provides users with a comprehensive view of their carbon footprint and offers personalized recommendations to help them make more environmentally friendly decisions. The platform also includes a gamification feature that allows users to compete with friends and earn rewards for engaging in sustainable practices.
How we built it
Using the frontend and backend collaboration, we have created a dashboard that provides users with a comprehensive view of their carbon footprint across different categories. We have also integrated third-party APIs to track user data and calculate a user's sustainability score. By analyzing users' spending patterns across various platforms, we can provide personalized recommendations on how to make more environmentally friendly decisions. To make the process of reducing one's carbon footprint more engaging, we will include a gamification feature where users can compete with friends to improve their sustainability scores. We believe that by encouraging users to take more sustainable actions, we can collectively make a positive impact on the environment. To further incentivize our users, we can partner with sponsors to provide rewards and incentives to those who actively engage in sustainable practices. This not only benefits the environment but also provides a tangible benefit to users who take part in the program.
Challenges we ran into
One of the challenges the team faced was integrating third-party APIs and ensuring that the platform could accurately track user data. Due to knowledge and experience constraint, we weren't able to utilize the velo site completely which could have decreased the amount of work that we applied for backend and front end coding.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Our product is designed for long-term use and can withstand the test of time, making it a reliable solution even in the year 2090. Additionally, our product is globally scalable, making it accessible to individuals and businesses worldwide. The team is proud of creating a platform that can help individuals make a positive impact on the environment. The team is also proud of the gamification feature, which they believe will encourage users to engage in sustainable practices and make a meaningful contribution to mitigating climate change. The idea that WILL bring the change - capturing mostly all segments of experience for the user.
What we learned
Through the development of Carbon Capture Hub, the team learned about the importance of sustainability and the various ways that individuals can reduce their carbon footprint. The team also learned about the challenges of developing a sustainable platform using different tool and how to overcome these challenges. Coming from 4 different backgrounds, everyone in the team faced a different challenges and for sure has grown through this hackathon.
What's next for Carbon Capture Hub
We were able to create the complete prototype idea of what and how we will reach our target. However, some webpages are yet to be completed due to time constraint, the website idea has a bright future. The team plans to continue to improve and expand Carbon Capture Hub, including partnering with sponsors to offer additional incentives to users who engage in sustainable practices. The team also plans to expand the platform's reach by making it more accessible to businesses and organizations looking to reduce their carbon footprint. Overall, the team is committed to working towards a more sustainable future, one person at a time.
