Inspiration
This project is inspired by the fact that we come from undeserved areas. Where you walk out of the door and the first thing that greets you is garbage, the fresh morning mist is just a fallacy to us. When we look at our way of live it is mainly sustainable, washing in “vaskoms” instead of taking a bath, reusing ice cream containers to store food, passing down clothes from one generation to the next. The earth is dying, the only home we’ve ever known where we all belong as a human collective despite our differences, and we believe we can be part of creating a long term solution. The carbon calculator.
What it does
The Carbon Calculator is an AI powered software that helps businesses, particularly big corporations calculate their carbon emissions, see where their emissions are coming from to help mitigate the amount of green house gases being emitted. Since 1998, big corporate has been known to have 71% of the carbon emissions.
How we built it
We have been exploring with a couple of technologies listed on our slides to have a framework of what our final product can be built
Challenges we ran into
Since we’re all working time was a huge factor, we also needed to do a lot of research to measure the impact of our product which is difficult to do since companies are not so transparent about their emissions.
Accomplishments that we're proud
We have managed to get a hold of a company that works with environmental impact whose mock data we can use to build an accurate app.
What we learned
Time management and time cooperation are going to be what we need to focus on the most to achieve the best product possible
What's next for Carbon Calculator
We are looking forward to diving into the research and doing something that has never been done before challenging the private sector to take responsibility and prolong the life of our mother, Earth.
