Inspiration

We were inspired by an algorithm we found online to calculate your carbon footprint. It factored in our most carbon-consuming practices in our routine day-to-day lives.

What it does

It calculates your carbon footprint based on inputted data and returns a result.

How we built it

We built the app on XCode with SwiftUI.

Challenges we ran into

We were all fairly inexperienced coders (having little to no prior experience with Swift), so we had to consult a ton of forums and online tutorials/documentation.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of completing the app! It was a big achievement for our first hackathon ever, and it definitely turned out better than we expected.

What we learned

We learned coding in Swift and SwiftUI, and using Navigation Views and links to toggle in between views. We also learned how to track values across structs.

What's next for Carbon Calculator

We want to make it more advanced by turning out suggestions for sustainable practices after results are shown, and add more interesting features to improve the app's interactivity.
