Caravn

Inspiration

I was inspired to build this project by Quin's desire for greater connection with others. As an extrovert, it's hard for me to imagine being alone for so long while on the road without people to talk to. As someone who has a passion for connecting others, I found Quin's prompt to be the most interesting problem for me to solve.

What it does

Caravn is a location-aware social platform built specifically for vanlifers that increases the chances of real-world meetups while supporting the realities of mobile living.

How we built it

I built this app utilizing Claude Code to execute the bulk of the manual coding work, while also utilizing React Native, Hono, Supabase, drizzle, and of course RevenueCat for monetization!

Challenges we ran into

This was my first time developing a mobile app, so connecting the wires to successfully get a internal test build on the play store was an interesting challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Building a fully functional app in one month. I was not expecting to get so much done in such a compressed timeline!

What we learned

Mobile development patterns, deploying to app stores, especially learning about lead times for Google/Apple reviews.

What's next for Caravn

Hopefully making it a real social network with users, and long term, creating the AAA of van life, helping members of the community to be happy and healthy, emotionally and financially.
