Car Hack

Inspiration

We all had a unique interest for hacking cars and messing with them. We found the perfect company to do this hack with- Intrepid Control Systems, and the mentors really got us excited to work on it.

What it does

The modules that ICS provided basically allow us to hack into and control parts of the car both through cables, but also wirelessly.

How we built it

We would the arbitration values of the different parts of the car that we wanted to control and thus use the fire modules, along with the Vehicle Spy System software, provided by ICS.

Challenges we ran into

Much of the installation process in regards to the software was a challenge due to internal computer issues. Thus, this prevented us from using Amazon's Web Service through which we initially wanted to control the parts of the car through a web page.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being able to successfully control various functions of the car whilst only using the Vehicle Spy Software was one of our main accomplishments of this project.

What we learned

Learned the process by which ICS Engineers use the Vehicle Spy Software to test various systems via reverse engineering.

What's next for Car Hack

Learn how to use Amazom Web Services to implement the vehicle controls on a website or mobile app and to get more familiar with the Vehicle Spy Software for use on future projects.
