Reality is no longer what it used to be. New technologies like Augmented Reality (AR) are changing the way we experience the world. In this context, _ cAR _ is born from the quest for new experiences in racing and exploration games.
What it does
_ cAR _ is a single-player racing game. First, you build your own circuit at home by placing several cardboard checkpoints. Then, you prepare your radio-controlled car at the start of the circuit. When the videogame starts, the screen will show the circuit from the point-of-view of the car. You will finally drive the physical car through the obstacles, which are shown in the screen using AR.
Players can create their own rules, so be original! Also, you will be more motivated by our random-stage algorithm which generates new random (but solvable) challenges for you and your friends.
How we built it
It was built using Unity and Arduino. The AR technology was implemented with Vuforia software.
Challenges we ran into
Control the car using the Arduino required a lot of effort. Also, designing and adjusting the AR targets took some time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We had lots of fun coding and designing our project. We are proud of the final result.
What we learned
A lot! Not only about Unity and Vuforia but also about designing new game styles.
