Inspiration

One of us wanted to implement Capybaras, another one of us really wanted to implement fishing. We just put together ideas and went with it!

What it does

Play as a capybara roaming around the map. WASD to move, ESC to quit.

How we built it

Using Python with Pygame and lots of Git, our team was able to build this project across our multitude of IDEs.

Challenges we ran into

A complex idea that requires many moving parts takes time and patience. As a fun learning experience for us all, we really enjoyed the challenge and can't wait to add onto this project and see what it's real potential is!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Animations as well as a camera follow effect to the player really add a whole 'nother dimension to the game and make it feel more like a real game and not just a simple program.

What we learned

Object oriented concepts and file structure really allowed us to learn better project organization that equated to a scalable project that can continuously be added onto without getting messy. Oh, and delta time is quite necessary in developing games with performance in mind.

What's next for Capybara Fisher 2023

Incorporating more fishing mini games, achievements, scorekeeping, minimap, more areas/biomes/levels, more music/sound fx, character customization, inventory, NPCs, and whatever else we think of along the way
