Inspiration
We usually see a lot of people using AI to explain topics to them; however, what if we were to turn that around and have AI listen to our explanations?
The Feynman's Technique is a power study technique where an individual tries to explain a topic they are currently learning about in simple and easy to understand terms. This allows them to practice their recall and also helps with active usage of the material rather than passive consumption.
So why not just make an AI listen to your explanations and give feedback + add some capybaras!!!
What it does
Select a capybara to explain a topic. Do you best to recall and master your learning by simplifying and condensing your explanations. Get feedback from the capybara's on what you can improve. Watch the capabara evolve as your explanations get better!
How we built it
We used python for the backend and vanilla js for the frontend. For transcribing: audio 4o-mini-transcribe was used. For feedback: o4-min was used.
Challenges we ran into
We decided not to vibe code this project and not knowing basic web dev really put a challenge for us.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The art done by Andrew looks great! We also have a working backend system for storing all the past information!
What we learned
Make sure you have good internal deadlines!!!!! We are currently rushing to finish the project at 4am :sob:
What's next for Capy Tutors
We would like to add some social elements where you can look at your friends progress with their capybaras. Another big feature that we would have done is a capybara farm!!!
